I bought this album when just released, an advantage of working in the only record shop in my hometown in Australia on Saturday mornings and Thursday nights when I was in high school. I had the best job of all my mates. I still have this album (and about 300 others) that I bought through this time. All still immaculate condition but still regularly listened to, looked after and treasured. you cant ask for more than that as an artist.

1970s Candles in the Rain was Melanie Safka's third album, but while her first two LPs found her trying to make a coherent whole out of her grab bag of influences and ideas, this was where she seemed to truly hit the mark for the first time.
