Straight edge (sometimes abbreviated as sXe or signified by XXX or X) is a subculture originated from hardcore punk whose adherents refrain from using alcohol, tobacco and other recreational drugs, in reaction to the excesses of punk subculture. For some, this extends to refraining from engaging in promiscuous sex, following a vegetarian or vegan diet or not using caffeine or prescription drugs. The term straight edge was adopted from the 1981 song "Straight Edge" by the hardcore punk band Minor Threat.

resolution: "straight edges positive message of abstinance from alcohol, drugs and tobacco does more good then the harm caused by its violent and militant segment". i need stuff that supports this idea, main ideas or fights the negatives would make. i have sme ideas but i definatly need more. It has also helped many people find a positive outlet rather then drinking their worries away. It talks mainly about the hardcore scene, but it does go into the start of the straight edge movement with Minor Threat and Ian McKay.
Straight edge should have been like spoken word. Like, I need to hear you articulate why I should adopt square life. I just want a beer at the moment. Was that a natural progression for straight edge? That it started to impact kids before they even touched drugs? If so, I’d think these people are it. Saying I feel sorry for you over and over is more of a taunt than even an attempt at conversion. Have Heart - The Things We Carry (2006). I was slightly excited to hear this album because it was made in 2006 and I thought there’d be a more developed take on the genre but, nope

Straight edge is fundamentally about subverting the drug scene and creating an alternative, drug-free environment. Clean living is the key precursor to a positive life. Many sXers even shun caffeine and medicinal drugs, and a majority are committed vegetarians or vegans. Lifetime commitment Straight edgers make a lifetime commitment to positive, clean living. They treat their abstinence and adoption of the Straight Edge identity as a sacred vow, calling it an oath, pledge, or promise. When formerly Straight Edge individuals began drinking, smoking, or using drugs, adherents claim they had sold out or lost the edge. Caring relationships Reserving sex for caring relationships is an extension of the positive, clean lifestyle.
Straight Edge Bullshit Quizzing. Fuck the gatekeepers! Jyoti Mishra. Straight edge is the avoidance of exogenous psychoactives based upon a conscious, positive, self-affirming philosophical mindset. It is seeing the unclouded beauty of every sharp, precious moment. Our sensoria see in natural technicolor. We have higher highs and lower lows, we have no psychoactive safety nets. We stay up till dawn talking shit and we remember every glorious, ridiculous word. But that’s just what I think. I could, of course, be entirely wrong.

Notes
With insert"I Love Sports" is dedicated to Melanie Jayne Chisholm, originally recorded by 7 Seconds as "I Hate Sports".
The pressplant put the H-Street songs "Away From Me", "...To Be Continued" and "Hoods Up Skate Hard" on the 7" instead of "The Tie That Binds", "The Point We Obtain" and "Proof" (as appearing on the sleeve and label). Reflections Records decided to make new lyric sheets to provide the correct lyrics and hope you're not too dissapointed.
