On Wallet and Cellphone, Gobby comes out in particularly high spirits that affirm his desire for shredded joy rather than purposely weirded out dance obfuscations. The circular glee of Y Smart Car segues into the bubbling four-four of MaybeImLying, casually jumped up and wobbling with a classic acid mood. He’s on that distinctly Gobby weird-as-I-wanna-be tip with particular clarity and linear groove objectives on Wallet & Cellphone. Dante S I haven't heard an album of instrumentals quite like this. Gobby weaves diverse samples into potent, thumping beats. He crafts tracks that are all over the place, but catchy and immensely creative. 1080p did an excellent job with the physical tapes, they look and sound wonderful.

Gobby will release a tape called Wallet & Cellphone on 1080p next month. 1080p, the Canadian label that recently celebrated its first birthday by offering fans its entire discography for free for one day, have lined up the New York artist for their next cassette. Wallet & Cellphone, which comprises six slices of playful house and techno, arrives five months on from Gobby's most recent album, Wakng Thrst For Seeping Banhee, which came out on UNO back in March. It will be released on cassette and digital formats.
