Prior to forming Starfucker, Hodges released a solo album titled Sexton Blake and followed up with an album released under the band name "Sexton Blake" entitled Plays The Hits! Both albums were released on Expunged Records. During this time Corcoran was the drummer for Vegas-based grindcore band The Weirding Wa. "Vegas Archive: Weirding Way – Discography 2000-2005".

Starfucker is the eponymous first studio album by the Portland-based indie rock band Starfucker, released on September 23, 2008 through Badman Recording Co. Josiah Hughes of Exclaim! described Starfucker as a mixture of "laidback" pop music with "epic" electronic sounds. Hughes was ecstatic towards the LP, calling it "a debut album that cannot be missed. STRFKR: Vault Vo. (180g. has been added to your Cart. even this album of just a collage of earlier works. I don't really feel the songs are as complete or published as the rest of their albums but I still enjoyed listening to it as background music while working. I'll still would like to check out Volume 2.
