Weather Report - Procession album flac

Procession is the thirteenth album from Weather Report. Although several previous Weather Report tracks included wordless singing, and "And Then" from Mr. Gone included brief lyrics, "Where the Moon Goes" was the band's first track including lyrics throughout, sung by members of The Manhattan Transfer. The band would continue to feature vocals on the next three albums.

Procession" itself is a masterly Zawinul tone poem, with moody electronics and voices building to an emotional crescendo and ebbing away, a high point in WR's output. Even Wayne Shorter's sole composition "Plaza Real" is the most interesting tune he had come up with in a long time. The Manhattan Transfer, the champions of "Birdland," make a fascinating electronically distorted appearance on Zawinul's marvelous "Where the Moon Goes. This is an unjustly overlooked Weather Report treasure, hopefully due for CD reissue soon.

This album has made me much more interested in collecting more of the Weather Report discography. People may say that the band was "running out of steam," but they were at least trying too keep things fresh and lively with interesting arrangements. I think any fan of American fusion (not to mention Weather Report fans) will most likely be interested in hearing this album. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but is still a good, sold album. Weather Report was fantastic, but this album sounds even more progressive with typical 80's type drumming and sound. To constantly widen musically is art!!! This is a good exa.
