Hypnotize is the fifth studio album by Armenian-American heavy metal band System of a Down. It was released on November 22, 2005, six months after the release of its companion album Mezmerize. Mezmerize and Hypnotize both debuted at number on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making the band one of the few to achieve this with two albums in the same year. Hypnotize is the band's most recent studio album to date.

Prior to the Hypnotize album release on Nov. 22, 2005, the band got the ball rolling with the album's title track. The song featured both Tankian and Malakian sharing vocals and is notable for the references to the Tiananmen Square protests and the effects of propaganda. Interestingly, Malakian says he penned the song while sitting in his car waiting for his girlfriend, which also turned into a lyric in the track. Like its counterpart, Hypnotize would debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. It was certified gold within a month of release and went on to become a platinum seller.

Hypnotize is the fifth album and second half of the Mezmerize/Hypnotize double album released by System of a Down. It was released on November 22, 2005, through the record label, Columbia. The double album debuted at in the Billboard 200. Hypnotize was the last album to release before System of a Down’s four-year hiatus from August 2006 to November 2010.
