Listen free to My Bloody Valentine – Ecstasy and Wine (Strawberry Wine, Never Say Goodbye and more). After the departure of David Conway, My Bloody Valentine released the Strawberry Wine EP, followed by the LP Ecstasy, their second LP. With these two records, MBV took a new direction. While the loud chiming guitars are still present, they seem layered and effected in new ways that presage the soundscapes of Isn't Anything.

Ecstasy and Wine, which combines the two EPs that came before Isn't Anything, is the sound of a band discovering its unique voice. Strawberry Wine" is a gorgeous pop gem, with Shields and Butcher exploring the guitar landscapes that would later become their trademark. Both "Can I Touch You" and "Clair" are rare examples of My Bloody Valentine's talent for making swaggering hard rock ditties

I had both the original and the bootleg copy of this, and the sound quality on the real thing was noticeably better. Not that the bootleg was poor - for years I didn't even twig that it WAS a bootleg, as I bought it from Sister Ray. But once I got the real thing, the quality of the sleeve and the extra zest in the sound was appreciable. Hardly an audiophile release, but just do your homework before you buy, as I'd be very dubious that the versions being sold here are the real thing.

Was lucky with mine. Got it in a store. Almost perfect record. No wobling or anything.

I've had two copies of this record. Both were authentic original pressings, and neither were pressed off-center.I still have one copy on-hand, and can confirm that it's pressed perfectly centered. Copies pressed off-center and have non-textured/matte sleeves are bootlegs.
Qusserel
Interesting. What is the cover for your copy like? Printed on textured/matte stock, or smooth stock?

To muddy the water a little, not all bootleg copies are pressed off-centre. I have one, and it's fine.
Dori
Yes I'm interessed about the answer of Analordmichb question. Thanks

I just got this record, and as with the 2 other comments, Side 1 is extremely off centered, to the point where it is almost unlistenable. Such a shame, Side 1 has some of my favorite songs ever written.

Just got another one of these, and Side 1 is completely fine. I tested it at the record store, and at home. Buyer STRONGLY beware, but good ones of these do exist. I'm still pretty sure that it's the bootleg.I'm speculating here, but maybe there are new ones floating around now. This copy looked very new and in very good shape. The price has also dropped on Discogs. My Bloody Valentine is also much more active now, so that could spur a repress of this. Who knows.

i Don't know original or pirate.

Just scored a copy of this. My matrix#s match so I suspect it's an OG. Can someone please tell me how to spot if it's an original or a pirated copy? Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Lianeni
It's definitely an original, I've seen a bootleg that a friend owns side by side. The boot comes with a glossy cover. Thanks for your input.

just check if side A is off-center, as described in http://www.discogs.com/My-Bloody-Valentine-Ecstasy/release/2105026

Just bought this one 2nd hand, same as described below, side 1 is off-center big time. Don't buy.

warning, perhaps - i don't know if this is true of all copies of this pressing, but the one i got is mispressed on side 1, in that it is off-center: you can see the needle moving from side to side (about half a centimetre). The run-in groove goes from 3mm at its narrowest, to 8mm at its widest. So, moving needle, wowing music, skips etc. pretty useless.
