Jan Bang, Erik Honoré, Eivind Aarset and Samuel Rohrer. Dark Star Safari present its eponymous recording debut, an evocative song-driven album. These songs conjure shadows of memory, clouds of dreaming and silhouettes of foreboding through the album’s layered, many-textured fabrics and Jan Bang's silken delivery of Erik Honoré's acute lyrics.

Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset is a musician who has succeeded in the difficult task of creating an immediately identifiable sound and marrying it to a will to investigate as many musical possibilities as he can find or imagine. is his latest and arguably most accomplished album embodying these traits. The nine tracks that comprise the album are often diptychs or triptychs, structured with clear movements, shifting in tone, colour and mood. Some are divided and set as way markers. And none of this is new to Aarset, yet never has it been so clearly defined.

Through this album, Aarset expresses just as much the breakthrough into groove, lounge or trance composition, drum 'n' bass rhythmicity or a solid nu-jazz/ambient casting. The 11-artist ensemble, although featuring Molvaer and Wesseltoft as guest artists, disjoints after this release. 1998 marked the solo debut, signed with Jazzland Records, called lectronique Noire. It seems that, critic-wise, this album is, on one hand, significantly compared with the electric Miles established genre, while, on the other hand, a mix of aroused wailing heavy guitar blasts, and soft or inner-centered fusion is also grasped. Through this album, Aarset expresses just as much the breakthrough into groove, lounge or trance composition, drum 'n' bass rhythmicity or a solid nu-jazz/ambient casting.
