In 1992, Amy Grant recorded a version for her second Christmas album, Home for Christmas. Grant's version featured an additional verse that Grant penned herself. Her record label at the time, A&M Records, promoted the song as the second single from the album, and it received substantial radio airplay. In 2003, original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson performed "Grown-Up Christmas List" on the show's Christmas special, and the song was released on the album American Idol: Great Holiday Classics, which resulted in renewed airplay of the song during the holiday season.

The Christmas Collection is a Christmas compilation album released by American pop and Christian singer Amy Grant in 2008. It is her second Christmas compilation album, after 2005's My Best Christmas. The compilation includes fourteen previously released Christmas songs from Grant's three Christmas studio albums, A Christmas Album, Home for Christmas, and A Christmas to Remember, as well as four new songs. Of the four new tracks, two are cover songs and two are original compositions. The two covers are "Jingle Bells" and "Count Your Blessings".
Home for Christmas" is Amy Grant's second holiday album, the first being 1983's "A Christmas Album". Coming off of the heels of Grant's massively successful 1991 album "Heart in Motion", "Home for Christmas" performed even better than "Heart in Motion" on the Billboard charts, reaching on the Billboard 200 and on the Christian album chart. It was later reissued in 2003 as "20th Century Masters - The Christmas Collection: The Best of Amy Grant"
