The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, Volume Two is a 1965 recording by the jazz musician Sun Ra and his Solar Arkestra. Where Volume One of the Heliocentric Worlds series had predominantly featured short abstract pieces, Volume Two features longer pieces performed by a smaller group, making it closer in spirit to the contemporaneous The Magic City, released on Ra's own Saturn label. The record has been widely bootlegged, some versions of which were retitled The Sun Myth.

The Sun Ra discography is one of the largest discographies in music history. Jazz keyboardist, bandleader and composer Sun Ra recorded dozens of singles and over one hundred full-length albums, comprising well over 1000 songs, and making him one of the most prolific recording artists of the 20th century. The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, Volume One. The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, Volume One is a 1965 album by the jazz musician Sun Ra. The back cover describes it as an "album of compositions and arrangements by Sun Ra played by Sun Ra and his Solar Arkestra". The Magic City is an album by the American jazz musician Sun Ra and his Solar Arkestra. Recorded in two sessions in 1965, the record was released on Ra's own Saturn label in 1966. The record was reissued by Impulse! in 1973, and on compact disc by Evidence in 1993.

The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, Volume One is a 1965 album by the jazz musician Sun Ra. The album is a notable example of the radical break which Sun Ra's music of that time had made with "previous notions of melody or harmony".

The 1965 sessions that produced the two volumes of Heliocentric Worlds came during the most extremely free-form period of Ra's career, contemporaneous with The Magic City (Saturn Records). Volume 1, recorded in April with an 11-member band, consisted of seven relatively short tracks (none over eight minutes); recorded in November with an octet, Volume 2, in contrast, was much freer and featured the side-long "The Sun Myth" (over 17 minutes in length) and "Cosmic Chaos" (14+)

What a journey. The contrast between the early singles and the later stuff is remarkable.

In 2005, ESP combined Sun Ra's notorious Heliocentric Worlds, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 onto a single disc. Then, oddly enough, they re-released it with a different catalog number and cover art in 2006. Given ESP's convoluted release history, you might think this is just another repackaging of the same album - and it is, except for an easily overlooked detail. The stereo fields for Volume 2 are the same for both versions, but the opposite of the 1998 Get Back version. The stereo field may not matter much (don't say that to a purist), but the remastering really allows for more detail to come through, especially with Ronnie Boykins' arco bass and all the extraneous percussion.
