Empresarios are a five-piece band from Washington DC. They are led by Javier Miranda (Vocals, Congas, Producer) alongside John Bowen (Video DJ, Producer), Paul Chaconas (Guitar, Bass, Keys, Producer, Engineer), Sonny Cheeba (Brazilian/Latin DJ, Producer) and Sammy Arsam Khosh (House DJ, Producer). Their music crosses cultures, bringing diverse sounds together. Their influences range from downtempo, dub, Latin, house, trip-hop to reggaeton. Their debut album, Sabor Tropical, will be released 8 February 2011.

The Empresarios released their Bestia Remixed EP in February this year, gaining on the support they’d been getting for album release Sabor Tropical last year. With a live show lined up in Washington DC for April 20th they were keen to show their skills behind the decks, resulting in the Playa Maravilhoso Mix from Empresarios’ very own Sonny Cheeba, a mix which we are able to bring you exclusively on Sounds and Colours.
