Organized Sounds of Resistance. The Coup, Guillotine. Many of the songs off of The Coup’s Sorry to Bother You album were influenced by, or were responses’ to Occupy Oakland protests and band members’ participation in the movement. Thought this would be a good place to start, with an anthem from the Occupy Movement. A Tribe Called Red, Burn Your Village to the Ground. Dave Stewart with Saul Williams, Nadira X, Angola 3″ A song written in 2006 about the imprisonment of the Angola 3, is still very relevant today, as the last of the Angola 3 that are still locked up, Albert Woodfox, has won his freedom several times recently but it has been continuously fought by the State of Louisiana.

The Sounds of Resistance: Freedom Songs and the Struggle for Liberation. Exiled Musicians: Broadcasting the Anti-Apartheid Message on a Global Scale. A song is something that we communicate to those people who otherwise would not understand where we are coming from. You could give them a long political speech – they would still not understand. But I tell you: when you finish that song, people will be like ‘Damn, I know where you nigga’s are comin’ from. Death unto Apartheid! – Sifiso Ntuli.

Freedom of association encompasses both an individual's right to join or leave groups voluntarily, the right of the group to take collective action to pursue the interests of its members, and the right of an association to accept or decline membership based on certain criteria. Freedom of Association, The Essentials of Human Rights describes the right as coming together with other individuals to collectively express, promote, pursue and/or defend common interests

All the albums have album artist "Various Artists" and the "album is a compilation" checkbox is checked and yet some are in the right place and some are not. I've even have a double album where disc 1 is correctly showing under compilations and disc 2 is incorrectly showing under various artists. Any advice/guidance to resolve this would be gratefully received. Sounds like you have things tagged correctly, but what do you mean by this part? Delta Skies wrote: The majority of these do show correctly but some are showing under Various Artists rather than in the bottom compilations section. Maybe alter those settings to see if that changes things to your liking.

Various artists compilations are compilation albums that feature tracks by more than one artist. To get the most out of compilations, making them more navigable in your music library, you need to treat them differently to other albums. Unlike albums, various artist compilations do not make up one contiguous body of work by an artist. This means they often require some form of separation while navigating. For instance, say you are interesting in playing an entire album by one particular artist. You don't want to be shown individual tracks from compilations the artist may be featured on. Conversely, sometimes listening to a compilation is a good idea, and some compilations are works of art in their own right. So much of what is politically important about music is rooted in our experience of listening to it, in how it becomes the soundtrack to meaningful and transformative experiences in our lives. We hope to incorporate a number of your responses into our exhibition design, along with the music that inspired your writing.

The show's premise, taken from a Philip K. Dick novel from 1962, imagines a world in which the allies lost World War II. In it, the United States is bifurcated, half-controlled by the Germans, half by the Japanese. You could do a mostly dark record because it was a dark time. It's resistance radio, a pirate radio station thing, so that's what helped us to pick the songs. It sounds like James in certain places, but most people I played it for don't know it's James, which happens on a lot of these songs. The way he interpreted it just changes his vocals. On working with Sharon Van Etten

Album The Resistance. It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it should have been right It could be wrong, could be wrong, to let our hearts ignite It could be wrong, could be wrong, are we digging a hole? It could be wrong, could be wrong, this is out of control. The song is also about any love which crosses boundaries such as religion or strong political beliefs and the subsequent recognition of the unimportance and divisiveness of such beliefs. 1984 is fear utopia about technological harm.
