The album was released on 7 September 2018 through Fat Possum Records in the United States and Bella Union in the United Kingdom, and is the band's first album in six years since 2012's Sweet Heart Sweet Light. The album was announced on 11 June 2018, along with the release of the album's first singles, "I'm Your Man" and "A Perfect Miracle". The album was produced by Jason Pierce. All tracks written by J. Spaceman.

This is Adam Hurt's second album, recorded four years after his debut (Intrigue), but the growth he shows is astounding. His debut was rough but good. This album is really something special. With an established master like Cathy Fink backing him up, Adam Hurt pushes the clawhammer style forward in a way that nobody has done for a long time. Long ago, Sandy Bull recorded a version of the main theme from Carmina Burana on banjo, played in the clawhammer style. It was brilliant, odd, and something of a novelty.
