The more song-centered moments on Demain Est Une Autre Nuit offer a sense of the pair's influences. Vocals are largely delivered in French, Guerineau dourly intoning longer, narrative passages and Davidson singing choruses, or just holding long, trilling notes that dissolve into texture.

Emerging from an underground electronic avant-garde scene that also included Dirty Beaches, Bernardo Femminielli & Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, the duo stood out thanks to their dizzying combination of EBM, techno and minimal electro-pop, held together with the sing-song poetry of both members, Marie Davidson & Pierre Guerineau, delivered predominantly in their native French. In March of this year, Montreal duo Essaie pas released their DFA debut LP, entitled Demain est une autre nuit, which in English translate to Tomorrow is another night. This album has now been remixed to close out the year, bringing together some of the most exciting names in dance music.

Davidson has released two excellent solo albums (Perte d'Identité and Un Autre Voyage) in addition to being a member of Land of Kush and a few other projects, and Guerineau has engineered recordings by Dirty Beaches, Femminielli, and others. Together, their work treads similar territory to Davidson's minimal wave solo efforts, consisting of hypnotic electro and disco rhythms along with vocals spoken as well as sung in French; this album's "Retox" is cut from the same cloth as Davidson solo tracks such as "Excès de Vitesse.
