Lick My Decals Off, Baby is the fourth studio album by American rock band Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, released in December 1970 by Straight Records. Van Vliet said that the title was an encouragement to "get rid of the labels", and to evaluate things according to their merits rather than according to superficial labels (or "decals").

Produced by Captain Beefheart himself, Lick My Decals Off, Baby was a further refining and exploration of the musical ideas posited on Trout Mask Replica. Whatever the differences, the jagged, complex rhythms and guitar interplay continue to amaze.

The album is mediocre but live recordings of the Tragic Band are quite interesting with their newer smoothed out arrangements of tunes from previous albums. The only consistency from the earlier Beefheart material are Van Vliet himself and Eliot Ingber, who shows up in live performances with the Magic Band and the Tragic Band. The Captain is an original. I have never gotten that sound out of my mind. Lick my Decals corrals the fury and makes it a little safer to listen, but not that safe, no. He lives on in music today, even though he was considered so odd at the time, he put freedom into the constrained world of rock. No three chord progessions, you have to let go and enjoy the ride when you listen.
