Masha Qrella (real name Masha Kurella, born 1975 in East Berlin) is a German singer-songwriter. Her music has been described as belonging to the genres of indie pop and "a mixture of electronics and indie rock. Qrella's solo debut album, Luck, was released in 2004. It was followed by Unsolved Remained, released in 2005. Patrick Sisson, writing for XLR8R, compared this album's sound to the music of Aimee Mann. In 2009, Qrella released "Speak Low: Loewe and Weill in Exile", a covers album consisting of Qrella's performances of songs originally by Kurt Weill and Frederick Loewe.

Qrella continues to combine acoustic and electronic elements effectively - this will gain her more comparisons to Lali Puna than ever before, now that she's one of the group's labelmates. Though plaintively plucked acoustic guitars and er vocals are the rule again, "Destination Vertical" is the prime highlight, with a dance beat full of friction and a level of tension that crests just short of bursting. This is another album ideal for days when all you want to do is sprawl out on your bed with some magazines or examine the ceiling.

Why Her new album "Keys" shows Berlin-based musician Masha Qrella elegantly fusing disco-pop and songwriting. Written and produced by Qrella in her studio within one year, the album’s eleven songs feature well-known elements of fragility, perfection and understatement, while walking a fine line between laconic coolness and passionate uptempo melancholia

Destination Vertical. Album Unsolved Remained. Descending from the mountain peaks My knees are trembling, I feel weak The sun's reflected from the snow, I'm blind We hardly see the things we left behind.

Masha Qrella's second album, UNSOLVED REMAINED, sticks close to the post-rock leanings of her other band, Contriva, though at times more spare. The drum machine on the title track, for instance, accompanies a simple acoustic guitar before the effects start to pile up. "Sister, Welcome" has a touch of country music, but a very small touch. The gentle guitar work on the instrumental "No Matter" carries a moodiness with it, as does the short "Guided by the Stripes," though "Feels Like" perks things back up, while "Everything Shows" has some harsher electronic tones. "Destination Vertical" has a nice micro-house backing to it that helps make it stand out, and the slow gait of "My Day," is pleasing enough. Much like the album in general.
