Touched (Nadja album). Touched is the debut full-length album by drone doom band Nadja, it was first released in May 2003 by Deserted Factory Records. This album was made when Nadja was still a solo effort of Aidan Baker's, prior to when Leah Buckareff joined Nadja in 2005. The album was re-issued by Alien8 recordings on March 13, 2007, with extended songs (except in the case of 'Stays Demons'), and remastered with an untitled bonus track at the end of "Flowers of Flesh".

Touched, the band's second full-length album for Alien8 after a series of limited CD-R releases on other labels, finds Nadja taking the best of Broadrick's lessons- grand entrances, indelible weight, multi-part slow motion- and applying it to a fierce musical restlessness. Nadja somehow churns out "doom metal" for the post-rock and noise sets. Touched is as strident as it is meticulous, its Swans sense of purpose and volume attached to an almost symphonic use of motion. Even when things are still, there's an intense undercurrent just below the surface.

This particular album is a bit more on the stagnant side and sees Nadja at arguably its most primitive. It’s not surprising that the album has a few detractors given that the entire arrangement is extremely rough and functions more as a uniform wall of sound rather than a symphony of specific drones and figures that form a more loosely connected whole. Touched' was the first ever chance anyone had to hear this band, unfortunately for me, I didn't hear it until well into my Nadja loving period. However, it's one that will always stick in the mind. However repetitive it may become.
