Lovers rock is a style of reggae music noted for its romantic sound and content. While love songs had been an important part of reggae since the late 1960s, the style was given a greater focus and a name in London in the mid-1970s.

Lovers Rock is the fifth studio album by English band Sade, released on 13 November 2000 by Epic Records. Following the release of Love Deluxe (1992), the band began an eight-year hiatus, during which time some band members began recording with American musician Maxwell and produced his debut album, Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite. Following the group's Love Deluxe World Tour, Stuart Matthewman, Paul Denman and Andrew Hale formed the group Sweetback.

The Lovers Rock album launch kicked off with the Apple Music debut of a three-part video concept, that tells her parent’s story of love, love lost and love found again. The single and video for Better is a mid-tempo dancehall flavoured cut that will appeal to reggae fans as well as Estelle’s core R&B audience. The other two songs in the video trio are Sweetly and So Easy (feat. Other notable step outs on the album include Maleek Berry, Chronixx, Konshens, Kranium and Hood Celebrityy.
