In 1967 the BBC Symphony Orchestra invited Barbirolli to record the Eroica. Broad in tempo and richly sung, it is a reading that’s fathoms deep. Eugen Jochum recorded the Eroica four times between 1937 and 1976; all are different, yet all sound much the same. PERIOD-INSTRUMENT CHOICE.
Ludwig Van Beethoven Symphony No. 3 in E flat major (Eroica), Op. 55 Overture, Fidelio, Op. 7. Inspired by acts of heroism, Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 broke the mould of the classical symphony, and with its scale and orchestration is considered the first symphony of the romantic era. If his first two symphonies hinted at the revolutionary character of their creator, the 'Eroica' unleashed a symphonic energy regarded as a turning point in musical history.
Beethoven: Symphonies N. & No. 3 'Eroica'. The Symphony No. 1 performed joyful, lovely. Still, this symphony has a Haydn atmosphere and yet, it has the energy of youth. But the "Eroica" Symphony, has a typic Beethoven character. The sound quality is very good mono, recorded in 1950's. Even, these are historic recs. And worth to listening.
