The album was recorded at a benefit concert at Streisand's Malibu, California home on September 6, 1986 and released in April 1987. It has been certified Platinum in the United States and New Zealand for sales of 2,000,000 and 15,000 copies

The Barbra Streisand Album is the debut album by Barbra Streisand, released February 25, 1963, on Columbia Records, catalogue CL 2007 in mono and CS 8807 in stereo. It peaked at on the Billboard pop albums chart, and has been certified a gold album by the RIAA. The album won Grammy awards for Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance. In January 2006 the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
