Whatever the truth is, what it really matters at all is that RAMP’s sole record Come Into Knowledge stands for its fine songs, its fine production and its fine attitude, as it is considered to be the holy grail among others in the rare groove collectors community of modern times. A totally amazing album that has been heavily sampled over the years, centered around some excellent base of vibes trapped by some unique two-female vocals, all arranged magnificantly by Edwin Birdsong, Roy Ayers and William Allen.

The group released one studio album, Come Into Knowledge, subsequently considered a classic among rare-groove collectors, artists (such as Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, Common, PM Dawn, A Tribe Called Quest and many others who have used RAMP samples in their music) and Roy Ayers fans. Come Into Knowledge was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City and at Record Plant in Hollywood, California. The group was a vehicle for the songwriting talents of Ayers and Edwin Birdsong.

LP - Hi Horse Records. Once Roy Ayers caught a gig and got involved, the band changed its name to Ramp ("Roy Ayers Music Productions") and recorded its one album, produced by Ayers with tight associates Edwin Birdsong and William Allen. The material swings between anti-gravity soul and hard-edged funk otherness, a unique mixture that could've only been encouraged or enhanced by Ayers and Birdsong.

Promo copies of the originals were stock copies in a gold promo stamped sleeve; I have seen over a dozen and I also own one. None have black & white labels (as other Blue thumb or ABC promo LP's had) and definitely not this 'photoshopped' grey label. The Promotional text is the giveaway here as it is so obviously a computer font.
