The grandfather views this hat as a tribute to those that he lost in the battle. Written and performed by Anderson first in 1960 and was included in an album in 1962. Other artists performed the song after Anderson released it, including Eddy Arnold and Roy Clark. The single is a sweet love song about the loss of a love and could pull the listener into believing every word he sang. 5. "Whiskey Lullaby". A hit for Brad Paisley with Alison Krauss, the song was co-written by Anderson and Jon Randall and tells the story of a man who returns home to find his wife is having an affair. The man falls deeper into alcohol use and eventually dies from his alcoholism.
