Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by English rock band the Beatles, released on 26 September 1969 by Apple Records. The recording sessions for the album were the last in which all four Beatles participated. Although Let It Be was the final album that the Beatles completed before the band's dissolution in April 1970, most of the album had been recorded before the Abbey Road sessions began.
First issued on 26th September, 1969 Abbey Road was the final Beatles album to be recorded but not their last to be released. Let It Be, though mainly recorded in January, 1969 was finally released in May, 1970 alongside the film of the same name. Following the 'live' nature of the "Let It Be" recordings, for Abbey Road, The Beatles returned to the North London studios to create carefully crafted recordings with ambitious musical arrangements

The last Beatles album to be recorded (although Let It Be was the last to be released), Abbey Road was a fitting swan song for the group, echoing some of the faux-conceptual forms of Sgt. Pepper, but featuring stronger compositions and more rock-oriented ensemble work.
Named after the road on which they did most of their recording, Abbey Road was the Beatles' final album. Along with two of George Harrison’s finest songs, the highlight is the medley which takes up the majority of the second side. Cover Art Design Ian MacMillan. Abbey Road was completed on 25 August 1969, almost a month before John Lennon told the other Beatles that he wished to leave the group. His decision was made on 12 September, just before the Plastic Ono Band performed at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival festival, and he told the rest of the group at a meeting a week later. The album was recorded at a time when The Beatles' Apple empire was fast unravelling, with vast quantities of money being haemorrhaged by bad business decisions and a lack of direction. The controversial business manager Allen Klein was moving in to gain control of The. I still listen to it a lot and I’m 65. Side 2 is amazing.

BIG MISTAKE.....Mispressing with Pink Floyd on Side 1 and Beatles on Side 2.Visually, this looks like an early Abbey Road release. That's what I thought when I bought it in 1977 for $1 in used record store in Cincinnati. But it had a bizarre surprise waiting on Side 1...the 23 minute instrumental Atom Heart Mother Suite by Pink Floyd.
How does half a Pink Floyd Album released in 1970 got pressed on a Beatles album released a year early? And how many got pressed this way?
Until recently, I thought this disc was unique. But I've learned there is a similar disc with Pink Floyd AHM on side one, and Abbey Road on side two. But that disc has Canadian Capital labels, and may not have been pressed at Winchester. Still awaiting details on this other disc to verify where it was pressed. Even if pressed at Winchester, there is a mystery how these two mispressed discs got different labeling. Any ideas are appreciated.
