When issued as a single in May 1970, a month after the Beatles' break-up, it became the group's 20th and last number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. It was the final single released by the quartet.
A long, long time ago Don't keep me waiting here (Don't keep me waiting) Lead me to your door. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. About The Long and Winding Road. The Long and Winding Road ; released in June 1970 it was The Beatles 20th and final number one single in the US. Written by Paul McCartney, the song is a reflection on the journey of The Beatles. In 2003 Paul re-mixed the song and the rest of the album as Let It B. aked removing Spector’s production (check: The Long and Winding Road (Naked Version) ). Unusually, it’s Lennon playing bass on the original recording (instead of McCartney) – possibly because it was only meant to be a quick run-through with Paul on piano, with McCartney planning to overdub the bass afterwards.
While the released version of the song was very successful, the post-production modifications to the song by producer Phil Spector angered McCartney to the point that when he made his case in court for breaking up the Beatles as a legal entity, McCartney cited the treatment of "The Long and Winding Road" as one of six reasons for doing so. New versions of the song with simpler instrumentation were subsequently released by both the Beatles and McCartney.
To the long winding road. На такой долгий путь. You left me standing here. A long long time ago. Я давным-давно. Don't leave me waiting here.
The Beatles recorded this in January 1969 as a fairly simple ballad. By 1970, The Beatles were breaking up and and Phil Spector was brought in to go through the tapes and produce the album. Spector was known for his "Wall Of Sound" recording technique, where he added many instruments and layered the tracks to create a very full sound. On this track, he took out most of The Beatles instruments and added a string section and choir (The Mike Sammes Singers). The result was very different from what the group originally had in mind. Then not long after he sent a song around to my house, which was 'The Long And Winding Road,' but the condition was that I could do it but it had to be my next single. Paul wanted it out straight away. At that time I had a song called 'Without Love' that I was going to be releasing. The record company was gearing up towards the release of it.
Naked" album released in 2003. The only song by The Beatles where John Lennon played bass. This song could be the next big-hit single for Tom Jones in 1968, when Paul McCartney offered it to him. But Jones' recording company was already preparing another song for him, so "The Long And Winding Road" was declined by Jones. This song is The Beatles' final number-one single in the USA Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential music band in history.
The Beatles rehearsed The Long And Winding Road on a number of occasions during the filming sessions at Twickenham in early January 1969. By the time they entered Apple Studios later in the month they were familiar with the song. The song was recorded on 26 January, and again during the 'Apple studio performance' on the 31st, an indoor counterpart to the previous day's rooftop concert. The album featured the final take from the 31 January 1969 session, originally meant to be included on the unreleased Get Back album, and without any of Spector's overdubs. This was also the version that featured in the Let It Be film.
The most eagerly awaited of these (by us, anyway), is TMOQ Gazette no. 19, "The Long and Winding Road", which gives us the Beatles documentary that Neil Aspinall put together. It would be shelved for decades, and eventually reworked into the multipart series "The Beatles Anthology" in the mid nineties, now here's a chance to see what it looked like in 1972 " etc. Nice opening. The White Album seems to be missing in action, as we now move fast forward to January 1969 for some outtakes from Let It Be, interestingly "You Win Again", "Yoko's bit" (could be more of what we saw in the 1984 "Yoko Ono Then and Now" video cassette) and "I've Got A Feeling".
