Roy Clark achieved maximum visibility when he appeared as a regular on TV's mock-hillbilly variety show Hee-Haw. Those whose knowledge of Clark ends there never got to find out that he was an extremely gifted country singer and picker in his own right, fully capable of enrapturing any hardcore country music audience. Even those who know this much may be surprised to learn that Clark is equally well-versed in the gospel music tradition. Clark's appreciation for the old hymns goes back to his Virginia childhood, and on this album he revisits the music that touched him at an early ag. .
