Peter Eardley Sarstedt (10 December 1941 – 8 January 2017), briefly billed early in his career as Peter Lincoln, was a British singer-songwriter and instrumentalist. He was the brother of musicians Eden Kane and Clive "Robin" Sarstedt. Although his music was classified as pop, it generally encompassed ballads derived from traditional folk music rather than traditional rock and roll.

Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?" is a song by the British singer–songwriter Peter Sarstedt. Its recording was produced by Ray Singer, engineered by John Mackswith at Lansdowne Recording Studios and released in 1969. It was a number-one 1 hit in the UK Singles Chart for four weeks in 1969, and was awarded the 1970 Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In the United States, the record reached No. 61 on the Cash Box Top 100 Singles.

Peter Eardley Sarstedt (born 10 December 1941 in Delhi, India; died 8 January 2017 in London), briefly billed early in his career as Peter Lincoln, was an English singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and activist. He recorded a number of successful albums and singles, beginning in the 1960s. Although his music was classified as pop, it generally encompassed ballads derived from traditional folk music rather than rock and roll.

Peter Sarstedt's debut album was torpedoed by its best track, the number one hit "Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)," an exquisite piece of Baroque pop that Sarstedt would never come close to equaling again. Led by a festive accordion and a dark acoustic guitar, the song blended the reserve of early British singer/songwriter with the sophistication of Continental pop - name-checking everyone from Marlene Dietrich to Sasha Distel and the Boulevard Saint Michel.

If you don't know Peter Sarstedt or his songs this is a good album to purchase. Covers a lot of his best known songs and the recordings are clear. My reasons were good memories of one particular song but I enjoyed the whole album. I don't think his songs can really age as most are about the human condition, in any time.

Peter Sarstedt, the singer-songwriter forever associated with his anthemic 1969 No. 1 'Where Do You Go To My Lovely,' died on 8 January 2017. Where Do You Go To My Lovely’ told the engaging story of the relationship between the narrator and his friend since childhood, Marie-Claire, plotting her rags to riches story. The song topped the UK charts for four weeks, over the whole of March 1969, and was reported to be a No. 1 in 14 countries. It won an Ivor Novello Award in 1970. Sarstedt then had a No. 10 hit with the follow-up ‘Frozen Orange Juice’ and reached No. 8 with a self-titled 1969 album
