For years, Melchior’s productions, such as those on Superlongevity compilations, fitted so neatly into Perlon’s sound aesthetic that they passed under many a radar. Some of Melchior’s previous records even appeared bland on surface listen-you had to bend your ears into the groove and rotate the volume dial another ninety degrees clockwise before you caught the gist. Last year’s ‘Different Places’ EP marked the pinnacle of a long trajectory where Melchior finally found his present mature style and could aim his spacecraft right into the (no) disco future.

three years after his groundbreaking album the meaning< (Playhouse, 2004) Thomas Melchior presents his new longplayer No Disco Future<. Skills and experiences Thomas gained throughout the years are innumerous. To mention just a few: Along with Tim Hutton he formed the Duos Vulva and Yoni who were releasing on Aphex Twins label Rephlex, on the US-label Reflective, and for german electronica pioneers source records. With his mate Peter Ford he forms the duos sunpeople and soul capsule (and various others). The new album sounds less microhousy and more homogeneous.
