Otto Nossan Klemperer (14 May 1885 – 6 July 1973) was a Jewish German-born conductor and composer, described as "the last of the few really great conductors of his generation. Otto Klemperer was born in Breslau, Province of Silesia, then in Germany (now Wrocław, Poland), as a son of Nathan Klemperer, a native of Prague, Bohemia (today's Czech Republic). His parents were Jewish.

Otto Klemperer- Beethoven. has been added to your Cart. A protege of Mahler, Klemperer approaches these works with a mind (troubled as it was by manic-depression) that was informed both by turn of the century romanticism and by post-war rigid intellectualism. Moreover, Warner classics includes both his pre-stereo era takes on the 3rd, 5th and 7th symphonies as well as the somewhat less taut early stereo era performances. As is the case with any set of complete Beethoven symphonies, Klemperer is not the ultimate exponent of each and every symphony. 3 people found this helpful.

Klemperer first conducted the Symphony in June 1927, in his last days as general music director at the Wiesbaden Opera. He repeated this programme in October 1932 when he had become sole director of the Berlin Staatskapelle concerts,.

Recorded Music and Publications. Otto Klemperer On Beethoven, Mahler and Bruckner. I think the 4th and 6th symphonies are outstanding. You'll definitely hear things you haven't heard before with regard to rhythmic layering inherent in the music.

Otto Klemperer- Beethoven: Symphonies & Overture. Ludwig van Beethoven. I own a good bit of studio Klemperer - Mahler, Brahms, some Beethoven and Bruckner - that I'm happy with, and now I might get more. This box, I'm afraid, might be headed to the local library booksale, which will take CDs too, thank heaven! (28 February 2013). Brilliant, Otto Klemperer in a piece that matches his artistry, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony  . From the Hamburg Opera where he made his German debut to his exile in 1933 in the United States, he constantly put himself at the service of the music of his period by performing many premieres: the The Dead City by Korngold, Œdipus Rex by Stravinsky, Erwartung by Schoenberg, From the House of the Dead by Janace. n the United States, he took the direction of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra which, for a period, he conducted at the same time as the Pittsburgh Philharmonic. In 1939, a very serious health problem left him paralysed after an operation.

Among best Bruckner conductors ever. Classic German technique- shows everything without any showboating. Can be incredibly daring with tempi and rubati, but to fantastic effect. Kept getting better and better right to the end of his life- witness this Bruckner from just before his death. Look at his hands- very small and focused motions but so powerful. CONS- Repertoire a little limited. Some of his earlier Bruckner needed more architecture and less pushing and pulling of tempos. com/watch?v N5Ic6t0 qEg.
