The Berlin Municipal Opera orchestra is conducted by Artur Rother. Their performances are skilled, even passionate. Artur Rother succeeded Bruno Walter as the Berlin Opera's conductor in 1934. Three years later this non-member of the Nazi Party was named its general music director. Rother's conducting style is interesting.

Artur Martin Rother (12 October 1885 – 22 September 1972) was a German conductor who worked mainly in the opera house. He was born in Stettin, Pomerania (now Szczecin, Poland). His father was an organist and music teacher. He studied under Hugo Kaun and other teachers. By the age of 20, in 1906, he was conducting in Wiesbaden, and was assistant conductor for the Bayreuth Festival 1907-14. He was in Dessau 1927-34.

Elly Ney (1882-1968) was Strauss' favourite pianist for his Burleske. Upon his wish she made the first recording in history of this work in 1932 with Berlin State Opera Orchestra on shellac discs. In 1948 she recorded the Burleske again in superb magnetophone tape quality with Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra under its principal conductor Artur Rother. Комментарии к этому видео отключены.
