Dreamtime is the ninth album released by The Stranglers in 1986. The title track was inspired by a belief of the aboriginal peoples of Australia called Dreamtime. The single "Always the Sun" single peaked at No. 30 in the UK Singles Chart. Dreamtime itself reached No. 16 in the UK Albums Chart, the lowest charting studio album during Hugh Cornwell's recording tenure with the band (1977–90).

10 is the tenth studio album by English rock band The Stranglers and was the last to feature guitarist/lead singer Hugh Cornwell. The album was released in 1990. 10 peaked at No. 15 and spent four weeks in the UK Albums Chart. There was a big band sound to this album, possibly due to the production work of Roy Thomas Baker and the continued use of a horn section.

The Stranglers' final album with Cornwell, 10, was released in 1990. This was recorded with the intention of building on their "cult" status in America. Following the success of their cover of The Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night", a UK No. 7 hit in 1988, The Stranglers released another '60s cover, "96 Tears" as their first single from 10; it reached No. 17 in the UK.

Apart from 'La Folie' and 'Don't Bring Harry,, it probably is a 'very best of'. Personally, I would've put The Raven and Big In America on there, myself. Giants And Gems: An Album Collection. although norfolk coast paul roberts final album is not here which is a shame. A history of the Stranglers and notes on each album. So don't expect 32 pages of unique content per disc. I love liner notes, so this was a bit of a let down.

The Stranglers had already created a whole new sound, for sure there was a sniff of the Doors and the Seeds and all sorts of American underground rock in their initial recordings but surely it never sounded as urgent as the new material. The bass is revolutionary and cranked to the max- it makes such a great sound, lifting up the instrument to the lead role, reinventing it’s position in rock and a whole generation who never even noticed what a bass was before had now got their grubby mits on one And now? In the snow of early 1978 a new album was being readie. The Stranglers are busy moving to the next step. There has been a lot of talk about post punk and the big debate over whether it was Public Image or Joy Division who got their first but whilst either of these bands were scratching round in their formative stages the Stranglers were already exploring a stark new soundscape.
