Psonic Psunspot is the second album by English rock band the Dukes of Stratosphear, a side project of XTC, released in 1987. Also counted as XTC's tenth studio album, it is a follow-up to 25 O'Clock (1985).
The Dukes of Stratosphear. Anybody who heard the Dukes of Stratosphear's 1985 EP 25 O'Clock was left wanting more, so the full-length Psonic Psunspot sequel was welcomed warmly upon its 1987 release. Like most sequels, Psonic Psunspot pales slightly when compared to its predecessor, and not simply because the LP lacks the surprise of the EP. 25 O'Clock may have only been six tracks, but they were densely packed, containing enough studio tricks and allusions for a triple album.

The book has extensive notes from Andy, Colin with Gregsy (as the other two affectionately call guitarist Dave Gregory) giving a break down on the gear used to record the album. This is essential because it sounds better than the 2001 release with some nice EQ choices, the bonus tracks and the deluxe book. Giriş Yap. The Dukes of Stratosphear.
The Dukes of Stratosphear was a pseudonym used by XTC in the mid to late 1980s, concurrently with XTC's continued musical activities. The project was intended as a homage to 1960s pop and psychedelic music by groups such as The Beatles, The Byrds, The Kinks, The Beach Boys, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd and The Pretty Things. The band released two records by this pseudonym, the EP 25 O'Clock (1985), and the full-length album Psonic Psunspot (1987)

By the time Psonic Psunspot appeared in 1987, XTC had begun to admit in interviews that they were indeed the Dukes of Stratosphear. Later in 1987, both the EP and album were released on a single compact disc, Chips from the Chocolate Fireball. XTC then resumed working under their regular name, issuing new material throughout the 1990s and early 2000s before splitting up in 2005. Four years later, expanded versions of Psonic Psunspot and 25 O'Clock appeared via Partridge's own label, Ape House Records. Stephen Thomas Erlewine.

A 2003 MS Society benefit album, "The Wish List," extracted one more track from those shameless throwbacks, "Open Up a Can of Human Beans. All Dukes apparently attended the session at the shed (no word on whether they wore the animal masks).
