Univers Zero (also known as Univers Zéro and Univers-Zero) are an instrumental progressive Belgian band formed in 1974 by drummer Daniel Denis. The band is known for playing dark music heavily influenced by 20th-century chamber music. In 1973, Claude Deron and Daniel Denis, both former members of Belgian "Zeuhl" band Arkham (which had disbanded the previous year), set up a new group, Necronomicon.

Heresie is the second album by Belgian RIO band Univers Zero released in 1979. Reissued in 2010 as a remix with bonus track) It features heavy use of dissonance and dark, brooding and extremely complex melodies.

UZ has now found the right balance in its combination of acoustic and electric instruments. The resulting debut album „1313 is entirely self-produced. In 1978 UZ joins four other groups from different countries (HENRY COW, SAMLA MAMMAS MANNA, STORMY SIX, ETRON FOU LELOUBLANC) to set up „ROCK IN OPPOSITION. A number of concerts abroad follow, some of them in a combined line-up with ART ZOYD in France. In 1979 UZ record their second album, „HERESIE.

Some very peculiar rock music hybrids emerged in the 1970s, but none was any more peculiar than Univers Zero, a classically influenced group of primarily Belgian musicians. Sometimes compared to the slightly earlier and enormously influential King Crimson, Univers Zero was actually much more extreme.
