Art Zoyd yes to me one of the most impressive and creative post modern band; they gather all the influences I love in one project. If I had to leave to a distant planet with a few things sure I would take one album of Art Zoyd. Nicolas Freytag 10 months ago. Vissotski. ART ZOYD - 19 Sept 2015 - Rock in Opposition. The Godfather - Orchestral Suite. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Live). Views 13 000 000. 25:01.

This lineup recorded an album much more cinematic than the first. The 17-minute epic "Musique Pour l'Odyssée" is very moody, going from climactic passages to near silence (something pushed even further on "Bruit, Silence - Bruit, Repos"). Its slow development and ritualistic percussion accompanying prehistoric grunts gives a first example of the surrealistic soundtrack side of the band's music, which will become the center of its production in the 1990s (Faust, Haxan)

Diese zweite Art Zoyd Kult-Album war seit Jahren nicht mehr erhältlich. Nun hier als Re-release mit neuem Artwork und Bonus-Tracks. Released almost three years after Art Zoyd's first LP, Symphonie Pour le Jour où Brûleront les Cités (SR330), Musique Pour l'Odyssée (Music for the Odyssey) presented a slightly different version of the band.

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music(29%). After the pleasant initiation offered by their debut, Art Zoyd continued with equally convincing bravura on Musique Pour L'odyssee, a challenging chamber rock album with a small classical chamber ensemble, forceful rhythmic electric bass and crazed vocals. More then once, those elements bring Magma to mind, but apart from some sparse percussion there is no drumming whatsoever on the album.

Released in 1979, Musique Pour l'Odyssée marked their debut on France's Atem Records and expanded the studio lineup to include saxophone, cello, viola, percussion, oboe, and bassoon. That same year, Art Zoyd joined the Rock in Opposition movement (founded by Chris Cutler), which also included Univers Zero, Henry Cow, Art Bears, Samla Mammas Manna, Stormy Six, and three others. Commencing in 1980, Art Zoyd began to tour all over Europe, a period that lasted four years  . They composed music for Murnau's Faust, which was issued as a soundtrack album in 1996 on Atonal.
