I had purchased the album, knowing that there were two types of products here and hoping it was the score. Unfortunately, I didn't get what I had gambled for. However, I'll let it be knowing that the soundtrack, not the score, is in good condition.

The Ghostbusters score was composed by Elmer Bernstein and performed by the 72-person Hollywood Studio Symphony orchestra at The Village in West Los Angeles, California, orchestrated by Bernstein's son Peter and David Spear. Bernstein's main theme for the Ghostbusters was itself replace by Ray Parker J. s "Ghostbusters". Bernstein personally disliked the use of these songs, particularly "Magic", but said "it’s very hard to argue with something like, when it is up in the top ten on the charts.

Ray Parker, J. s vocals are funky and nice, and the bassline is good for dancing. This is a great sythny song, perfect for dancing. This album is officially all over the place. This is a sample of Ghostbusters‘ score, as written by Elmer Bernstein, and you can hear that this is an upbeat, big city comedy. The supernatural elements are downplayed for this theme song. The tone of the movie is a perfect balance of the supernatural and the comedic, but no one piece of music on the soundtrack has managed to fit in both.

The major exceptions to the latter complaint, the songs which do conjure memories of the movie, are the two tracks from Elmer Bernstein's score, Mick Smiley's "Magic," which played a major role in the film, and the witty Ray Parker, Jr. theme song, "Ghostbusters," which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Song.
