Billie Holiday Love Songs Billie Holiday. Verve Jazz Masters 12 Billie Holiday. Blue moon You saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own. Blue moon You knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a prayer for Someone I really could care for. And then they suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will ever hold I heard somebody whisper Please adore me And when I looked The moon had turned to gold  . So, goodbye, dear, and amen! Here's hoping we meet now and then. It was great fun, but it was just one of those things! When the only sound on the empty street Is the heavy tread of the heavy feet That belong to a lonesome cop I open shop When the moon so long has been gazing down On the wayward ways of this wayward town That her smile becomes a smirk I go to work. Love for sale Appetizing, young love for sale.

Billie Holiday is one of the greatest ja. .While one album doesn't really do justice to this great artist, a great place to start is at the beginning of her career with this 2 CD collection of some of her best 1930s & early 1940s work for Columbia. Billie Holiday is one of the greatest jazz singers of the 20th century (competing at the same level as Frank Sinatra & Ella Fitzgerald). Her friend tenor saxophonist Lester Young gave her the nickname Lady Day and their recordings together are some of her best, possessing a joy and playfulness not found in the emotional intensity of her later recordings. While her short tough life is reflected in the dignified emotional performances she gives on this album, l would recommend listening to the Columbia & Decca recordings first. Strange Fruit - Commodore Recordings. Lover Man - Decca Recordings.

Features Song Lyrics for Billie Holiday feat. Teddy Wilson and His Orchestra's The Great American Songbook album.
