The following is a comprehensive discography of They Might Be Giants, an American alternative rock band comprising several artists including John Flansburgh, John Linnell, Marty Beller, Dan Miller, and Danny Weinkauf. The band's first release was the November 4, 1986 eponymously titled They Might Be Giants, but TMBG did not gain commercial success until their March 1990 single "Birdhouse in Your Soul" from the album Flood.

I've been draggin' my feet across my back And I've been rubbin' my head against my neck And I've been walkin' my fingers through my mind And I've been feelin' this feelin' in my spine I believe I'll be leavin' it behind When I don't need a spine. The Spine They Might Be Giants. 1. Experimental Film.

Arriving just a few months after their very enjoyable Indestructible Object EP, They Might Be Giants' The Spine is relatively disappointing, with fewer memorable moments spread out over its 16 songs. Perhaps tellingly, two of the album's best moments already appeared on Indestructible Object: "Memo to Human Resources" is a brief, bittersweet tune from John Flansburgh that, with witty lyrics like "then the people came to talk me down/but I don't need advice/I'm down" and gently weary harmonies, really captures the feeling of being a perpetual underdog

They Might Be Giants. The Escape Team is a different kind of album set for the band, with eleven musical portraits of characters drawn from David Cowles’ comic book The Escape Team. The colorful tracks move from the cartoon violence of the book's Big Daddy Roth-inspired origins to mysterious prequels. Includes The Poisonousness (feat. Robin Goldwasser), Jackie the Clipper, Chip the CHiP, and eight more haunting tracks.

One of The Spine’s shiniest gems, The World Before Later On, resembles a sad vocal number sung in a lonely nightclub. The track leads off with a moping keyboard. Nearly whispered vocals soon join in, aided by a tearful horn section. One of the more complicated pieces on the album has a deceptively simple title: Wearing a raincoat. It seems harmless enough. Yet it’s a song intent on causing mental pain, ruthlessly mixing metaphor after metaphor until all sense is lost. I don’t know if it’s always a conscious decision, but They Might Be Giants somehow manage to pack a great deal of history into their songs. Their band name is even lifted directly from an old movie title). When a song can-in addition to carrying its own unique musical statement-allude to, and mess with, styles of the past, there is potential for it become timeless.
