The Other Ones were a pop rock band which formed in Berlin in 1984. Australian-born siblings Alf Klimek (lead vocals), the twins Jayney Klimek (lead vocals) and Johnny Klimek (bass guitar) were joined by a German-born trio of Stephan Gottwald (keyboards), Andreas Schwarz-Ruszczynski (guitars) and Uwe Hoffmann (drums). They issued two albums, The Other Ones (1986) and Learning to Walk (1988), before disbanding in 1990.
Well, you're walking straight ahead But you're looking to your right Got your eyes down low But you hold your head high A hola-hola-ho and a hola-hola-hey Another holiday. Beach, the sun and sand dunes Takes me far away. Distant lands are not so far away I don't know why we don't go Take my hand I'll show you the way Pack your bags and sail away. Well, I hate my job And I got no car And my aching feet Won't take me that far A hola-hola-ho and a hola-hola-hey Another holiday. Kiss me in the moonlight Listen to the waves

Other highlights include "Senor Santa" by Y La Bamba, which sets holiday sentiments to the tune of "Mr. Sandman," and Andrew Bird's happy, fiddle-enhanced version of "Auld Lang Syne. Sandy Cohen, AP Entertainment Writer. Rod Stewart "Merry Christmas, Baby" (Verve). There's not a dentist office in America that won't be piping this album into its waiting room this holiday season. Rod Stewart's first Christmas album is so safe, so tame and so unimaginative that it sounds like 100 other Christmas albums before it. There's literally not one truly memorable (or even halfway engaging) arrangement on this disc, despite a roster of all-star talent that lends a hand. Drenched in strings, leaning on jazz-combo stylings or tranquil acoustic guitars, this album starts off with the sleep-inducing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and goes nowhere from there.
