AVEY TARE: I’m definitely not trying to be secretive. I guess there are a lot of sides to it. I feel like there’s so many records in my lifetime that I just kinda stumbled upon and don’t have a story really, one of the most important being The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter by the Incredible String Band. I know it’s not sort of like the modern way of approaching a lot of music with the digital era but I think it’s cool to promote that way of hearing music still, so that’s that. STEREOGUM: Now all will be revealed! Part of what leaked with Painting With was that your surroundings had a big affect on the album - was that true for Eucalyptus as well? Did living in LA impact these songs? AVEY TARE: Definitely. STEREOGUM: Since you wrote this album back in 2014, has your relationship to these songs changed? Have any of them changed meaning for you? AVEY TARE: Yeah.
Animal Collective’s Avey Tare seems to be teasing a forthcoming new album in a very specific way. A Redditor claims to have received a mysterious package in the mail from Domino Records-the label behind albums from Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks and Animal Collective. The package-seen in the photos below-contained a jigsaw puzzle, which revealed details for a new album called Eucalyptus. Avey Tare’s representatives have confirmed that he and Domino sent the puzzles
Produced by Avey Tare. My feet deep in a sandy way It was on a beach I met . Thought he died on a winter's day Remember? He sat between the salty dunes And stared through me his eyes like moons I didn't know what I should say To heaven. He grabbed me by the shoulder skin And asked, "Is this the end? Or the beginning?" I shouted at the cloud array "Forever"
