Second Album was the second album released by British rock group Curved Air. It reached No. 11 in the UK Charts on 9 October 1971, and "Back Street Luv" became a UK No. 4 chart hit on 7 August 1971. Both variations of the album cover include a rainbow, a reference to the album A Rainbow in Curved Air, from which the band took their name.

Curved Air are a pioneering English progressive rock group formed in 1970 by musicians from mixed artistic backgrounds, including classical, folk, and electronic sound. The resulting sound of the band was a mixture of progressive rock, folk rock, and fusion with classical elements. Along with High Tide and East of Eden, Curved Air were one of the first rock bands after It's a Beautiful Day, The Flock and the United States of America to feature a violin

Its a typical early seventies symphonic prog rock album just with a female singer. There are definitely also traces of sixties rock in some of the songs.

In its initial vinyl form, Curved Air's debut album is one of the prog rock movement's most prized artifacts - not for the music (for that, it goes without saying, is flawless), but for the picture-disc format which had never previously graced a 12" rock record. A glimmering of that sought-after magnificence lives on, of course, in the artwork which has graced every subsequent release, this Collectors' Choice reissue included.

Looks great sounds great. One of the best prog rock albums of the 70s which for some reason it has never found the popularity it deserves. Though my original release sounds fine to me some people complain of the sound quality on the original release and on the CD version so perhaps best to get a remastered version.

The RSD pic disc sounds great! Superior to my US WB copy from the 70’s. The remastering is apparent. Picture discs rarely sound this good. Cool that they replicated the original UK version of the LP, which was also a picture disc. Odd for those times - 1970! I didn’t see picture discs in regular production till latter 70’s.

Very glad to see this album get some attention. It has the sound quality that should be expected of a picture disc, but nonetheless, it was pressed very well. It's a great record for any fan of Curved Air or Progressive Rock ????
