Folk Uke explained to Vanity Fair magazine how the song came to be. e were inspired by the idea of two genres coming together. As fans of the Unholy Trio’s countrified cover of Public Enemy’s Bring the Noise, we discussed how we would like to put a rap song to a lullaby. Cathy said, You know, something like, ‘Motherfucker got fucked up cause he got in the way. .and then Amy said, Now we have to write THAT song. We took the next 5 minutes to do just that.
