Carlos Gardel was absent from Bs. As. On November 7, 1933, on his way to France. From there, accompanied by the pianist, director and composer Alberto Castellanos and guitarist Horacio Pettorossi, embarked for the United States on December 18, 1933, where they arrived on the 23rd of that month. He then performs the American film series that begins with "Downhill. To the one mentioned correspond the tango with the same name, the number "Criollita, I said yes", the tango "My beloved Buenos Aires" and the waltz Amores de estudiante. As for the tango "Amargura" in the version that includes this album, it is a first for the Rioplatense public, since it is a different matrix that has circulated in the first term in Puerto Rico and reproduced in Venezuela.
