Scraps is an album by the rock band NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet), released in 1972 on Kama Sutra Records, which also released their next album, Workshop. It is the group's first album with guitarist/vocalist Al Anderson, who would remain with the band for over twenty years. Anderson replaced previous guitarist Ken Sheehan. Anderson was prohibited from singing lead vocals on the album due to an existing contract as a solo artist with Vanguard Records.
Both records feature the debut of Al Anderson's superb guitar, and (trivia buffs take note) Scraps is the only time in the band's history they were a quintet with lead vocalist Frank Gadler (who's very good). Both records are chock-full of classic Q: "Howard Johnson's Got His Hojo Working on Me," "C'Mon If You're Comin'," "Get That Gasoline," and "Magnet

NRBQ - Workshop 1973. Originally titled Age of Aquariums, Workshop became the first album to feature what is considered by many to be the "classic quartet" version of NRBQ. This incarnation incorporated the talents of bandleader Terry Adams (mpet), Joey Spampinato (ls), Al Anderson (guitar/vocals), and, in his final studio appearance with the band, Tom Staley (drums). In addition to the copious originals, the guys revived the C&W-tinged "Blues Stay Away From Me," which had actually been recorded for inclusion on their previous long-player, Scraps. A similar fate would befall the 'Q's unofficial anthem - the down-home rockabilly rave-up "RC Cola & a Moon Pi.
