Freeze Frame (Godley & Creme album). Freeze Frame is a 1979 album by Godley & Creme. The album was recorded at Nigel Gray's Surrey Sound Studios, Leatherhead, Surrey. The cover art was designed by Hipgnosis. This album made use of a couple of technical innovations which gave it a unique sound. I Pity Inanimate Objects" contained a distinctive vocal treatment in which the notes are seemingly obtained by altering the pitch of pre-recorded voices

L is the second album by Godley & Creme. It was released in 1978. Its 34-minute running time was a stark contrast with that of the ill-received triple concept album Consequences (1977). The album wasn't entirely well received, however. The songs contained much variation and artistry, dissonances, complex time signatures and melodies, clever, poetical lyrics, and some wonderful echoes from Frank Zappa's Over-Nite Sensation (1973).

Freeze Frame is a music studio album recording by GODLEY & CREME (Prog Related/Progressive Rock) released in 1979 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Freeze Frame is a distinctly good album, yes references to the old 10cc output but nevertheless a great album on all counts. Creme for me the best vocalist out of the 10cc stable. There is no debate as to Godley and Creme's contributions to the best Prog related era and equally they left their other band members behind when embarking on a new direction.

It's impossible to mistake this for a 1981 J. Geils Band release of the same name. This album gets the nod over other Godley and Creme efforts because sometimes they actually stay with a tune to the end instead of sailing off on a Frank Zappa-like tangent. That might be because the part-time presence of Paul McCartney and Phil Manzanera keeps their hosts grounded. An Englishman in New York" sounds remarkably like Queen in spots and is the strongest track on the album, although its smugness wears thin after awhile.

The tiny photo on the inner sleeve looks like an outtake from the cover photo of Smith's album "I'm Hurricane Fly Me". Also, Smith claimed on his book "John Lennon Called Me Normal" to have recorded horns for 10cc. Maybe he meant to say Godley & Creme. Reply Notify me Helpful.

If Godley & Creme had never made another record after they spilt from 10cc, they'd still have made a huge impact. Freeze Frame" is one of their best most consistent album mixing the melodic approach on "Consequences" with the unusual arrangements seen on "L". The title track along with "I Pity Inanimated Objects" percolating beat at the heart of "An Englishman in New York" and "Brazilia" (featuring Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera)are all stand out tracks. However, the album still has much to chew on: two of their biggest hits in Under Your Thumb and Wedding Bells.
