Under the Influence is the seventeenth studio album by British hard rock band Foghat. Kim Simmonds, the guitarist of Savoy Brown, which Earl and two other men left to form Foghat, makes an appearance. Also, Nick Jameson, who played bass on Slow Ride, sat in on a new version of their biggest hit which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the song. The band launched a Pledgemusic Campaign on 10 November 2015. The album is completely fan-funded.

Although the album has new wave sounds, it was unsuccessful at the time of its release. Shortly afterwards, Zones released a 7" single called "Mourning Star", whose eponymous song (a shorter version of the album song) was backed with "Under Influence", which did not appear in the album, despite the name being the same. At the end of 1979, and after years of failures, the group split up.

Band/Record: Zones - Under Influence. Label/Matrix: UK 1979 Arista NEW 1 with A1/B1. Condition Record/Sleeve: Mint-/Mint-. Extra Info: Fantastic Album !! Original UK 1st press LP on Arista. wow minty post punk, WAVE, power-pop rarity. True to the album's title, other influences stand out a mile - including pure mid-'70s glam pop, shot through with the hefty dose of vintage Bowie and Roxy Music, that places the Zones in a similar bag to period Ultravox. It is indeed ironic that the one Slik-er who didn't make the transition to the Zones, guitarist Midge Ure, would then be joining that other band and implanting many of the same sensibilities within its arsenal; for evidence of that, you need look no further than Under Influence's closing track, the punchily anthemic "Mourning Star

Under Influence was the only album of new wave band Zones, released by Arista Records on June 1, 1979. The album contained multi-genred songs, being very far from the early punkier stuff, like in the case of 7" single "Stuck with You". Jim Green in Trousser Press distinguished or tried to define it as "pop? Hard stuff? Commercial new wave? Reggae-pop?". Although the album has new wave sounds, it was unsuccessful at the time of its release.
