DeepChord presents Echospace. Silent World (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). Overview (current section).

First new album from the Echospace duo since the critically acclaimed Liumin< double album on Manchesters beloved Modern Love imprint. The sonic structure of this album was the basis for what later became Liumin< released on Modern Love but this exploration is something all together different, left untreated and unprocessed from its original 1/2 inch tape to preserve the natural organic state of the recording.

I have to agree with the praise, here. This release is top-class from packaging to production to mastering. It fills the entire room its playing with, with clouds of subtle beats and hazy tones. Just gorgeous. Don't hesitate on this one, folks.
Vijora
The biggest downside of owning this is the fact, that there is no live edit of Lisbon on the vinyl. Nevertheless, this is solid, hypnotic without overwhelming darkness, field recording infused dub techno.
Goltigor
Lovely work and concept masterfully executed.. recording quality and sonic pallet second to none.. 'Lisbon' originally drew me into the album, but I then discovered all the other tracks were equally as unique and heady trips. 'Orbiting' may be my favorite on here. It creates this instant feeling of being really high or in state of bliss/perfect chillness, always want to play this one twiceAs others have said 'Ghost Theory' on the vinyl is incorrectly titled, it is 'Lisbon Live' (I confirmed this buy going to purchase the actual ghost theory on bookmat which is a different track, i was really hoping to be on wax) but still all tracks are top.. this is a damn special piece of music here.. no reason to sleep on having it in your collection.
Arador
Finally got around to listening to this one. Damn this is good. Some of their best work here.
Brightcaster
To this day still one of my favorite releases on echospace, if you like electronic music in any respect his is a must have!
Kabei
Lovely. Truly.

Click on the link next to the rating to see a list of those who are shamelessly inflating it by giving 5 stars to multiple "versions" of this release (often all of them).Pretty easy to pull 4.89 rating with enough minions pulling this nonsense. Nice marketing strategy.
Mananara
every release in the database is like this that has a master release. minions... what a joker!
Aria
because all versions deserve a 5 star rating

DeepChord and Echospace always were my personal number one together with mostly Chain Reaction releases so I will try to be brief! It's amazing! "Lisbon" was the coolest track I heard through whole summer 2012! This IS summer, friends! And it will keep this status in the next time for sure imo!Another favourite of mine is "Orbiting". A track, I really can't classify, it's more dark or sunny. It fits in every mood. And these are the best tracks!I mean those, where you can dance your fucking heads off in a cool club on a big soundsystem or you can listen to them quietly in the background, when you clean your dishes at home!Bravo Rod & Stephen. Another masterpiece!
Adoranin
imo there is a mistake with the track Ghost Theory, on the vinyl it's actually Lisbon Live
adventure time
realized it 5 minutes ago, I've bought the album for the track... Still a fantastic piece of music but where can I find the Ghost Theory track???
IWantYou
That is a real bummer, I'm listening to the cd now and want ghost theory on vinyl. Echospace should compensate us with a free vinyl edit. Are you hearing me Rod?
Coidor
Sadly, I don't have the vinyl version but the FLAC edition definitely worths the price. It offers the cd version, the tracks in unmixed format, 2 live versions and a bonus track (Hydrodinamics).Essential collection, the best Echospace ever.
Zavevidi
this is the dopest thing i have ever heard. unbelievably deep. wish i had the cash for this now.

Fantastically deep. A submarine journey down into the depths of the Mariana Trench. I quite liked "The Coldest Season" however it didn't vary much from the Basic Channel blueprint. "Liumin" was where they really hit pay dirt though, the smudged field recordings and muffled beats combining to original and near hallucinatory effect on tracks like "Summer Haze" and "Burnt Sage". This release draws on "Liumin" (and features some of the same source material) and extends it even further out into the void. Exactly equidistant between techno/house grids and ambient drift space, this just effortlessly glides out the speakers and cradles you in its out-of-body embrace. The hour-long mix is perhaps the best place to start for an uninterrupted aural journey. Brilliant. Check out some of Rod Modell's mixes on YouTube if you like this. Expansive stuff.

Agree w/ your summation on Coldest Season and Liumin - at the time I felt like the outsider w/ that feeling, but maybe just the people I was talking to. Thx.
Zorve
I downloaded the FLAC files from Boomkat. This is an awesome release of exceptional quality - 100% recommended.
Kagda
There were glithces on the original FLAC files. The files have now been corrected and can be downloaded glitch-free at Boomkat.
TheSuspect
I didn't notice any glitches on the CD? There must be something with the download versions?

This is a fantastic release — however, be advised that “Ghost Theory” is a completely different track on vinyl than it is on digital. It’s not listed as being a different mix, and the only way you’d know in advance is by the track durations. I was disappointed. To me, the digital version of “Ghost Theory” is much better.
Shakataxe
BCN Dub was my favourite on Liumin and I thought nothing was ever going to top it but BCN Dub (Original) is even better. Incredible chilled and deep vibe. It takes me to places.

After purchasing the CD of this release, I ended up getting the digital version as well, which is vastly superior. The CD, being identical to the one found in the LP boxed set, only includes the single-track version of the album and the packaging is extremely minimal. The digital release not only includes a track-by-track version AND the original single-track version, but also two excellent live bonus tracks. It is hard to find a reason to own the CD aside from its "limited" status, which should never be an excuse for buying or owning music. If the price of the boxed set scares you, go for this digital version. Definitely an album of the year.

Simply said, the best electronic music album since a long long time in this genre. Organic soundscapes, amazing field recordings, wonderful melodic atmosphere. This is even better than Liumin because it goes deeper with generally slower tempo. I loved, still love, Burnt Sage on Liumin and Silent World is full of such moments I discovered while listening to Burnt Sage. Lisbon is my absolutely favourite. It has become one of my all time favourite tracks because it fits absolutely with my search in music. Rippling and Hydrodynamics are huge, too. The whole album is a lifetime experience that leads you into a submarine world full of aquatic mysteries.

As more skilled wordsmiths than my self have aimed their craft at describing this release I'll just add that this, in my humble opinion, is a an amazing masterpiece. From the visual images to the painted soundscapes that elicit and stir our deepest human emotions, this truly is a work of art.Oh, and on a more wishful note, imagine how amazing it would be if you could listen to this while looking at a framed cover picture hanging on a wall, signed by Rod himself..if he ever decides to issue and sell this as a poster, picture or whatever, I'm the first in line.
SlingFire
Simply put, some of the most Trancending music of our time.

More albums should set aim to have a central purpose as this one does, a soundtrack to a film no one has even seen? A media ploy or last attempt to save a genre that has virtually drowned itself with clone after clone and copy of copy, it's hard to tell anything apart anymore. That being said within the first few seconds I already presume what the remaining 60 minutes is going to sound like but as they often do they've proved me to be painfully wrong. Against my better nature I have to say these fella's helped break the mold of the sluggish state this sound found itself in. Don't expect The Coldest Season as the low end is indeed substantial – with a less is more approach and all the better for it. It’s a difficult task to conquer for some artist, break the creative foundation they've established (with DeepChord being heavily influential in this style) and alludes to an ongoing argument over authenticity of "their" sound progressing rather than running over the same flight path. Let me assure you this flight departs on a skyward trajectory with some slight turbulence but from the window seat the view looks very nice. Well done.

Why £39.99? I just bought Moritz Von Oswald Trio - Fetch for £11.99. Altering Illusions was £56.99, are these guys pricing themselves out of the market? I have every Deepchord, Octal & Echospace release but I'm not convinced at the prices of these 2 releases.Just managed to get a brand new sealed copy for £29.95 with free shipping, good things come to those who wait.

Apples to Oranges. Honest Jon's is a major label with major label distribution. I just read the review of their album in Spin, Spin Magazine!! Come on this is commercial music coverage and if I were a betting man I'd say they're easily selling 5000+ copies vs. 500. Do a little research on price differences at pressing plants and printing companies for jackets, it's NOT cheap. My friends and I pressed a record years ago, we only did a run of 250 copies in a standard 12 black sleeve and didn't make a nickel. The trick to selling music is the more you run the cheaper it is. This is why small run labels charge a lot more because they have to just to get their investment back. I also have no problem supporting something I believe in, I spent more at dinner last night than I did on this record and I'll enjoy this for years to come.

Is this the same fella who wrote, "£15 for a record? Worth every penny, Pittman is definitely from another planet." that would be for 1 standard 12"??? Confusing comment, comparing a release on Honest Jon's where 3000 copies are made and sold to a limited edition 500 copies triple LP pack with the CD album seems more than fair. 500 copies of a project like this one is very expensive to make and especially when so little are done.
