Anxiety (Ladyhawke album). Anxiety is the second studio album by New Zealand recording artist Ladyhawke, released on 25 May 2012 by Modular Recordings. It was recorded in early 2011 with long-time collaborator Pascal Gabriel, who co-wrote all tracks on the album Contents.

Brown's debut solo album, Ladyhawke, was released on 22 September 2008 through Modular Recordings, and topped the RIANZ Albums Chart. It spawned five singles of which "My Delirium" was the most successful. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2009, Ladyhawke won Breakthrough Artist in both album and single categories. Brown's second solo album, Anxiety, was released in May 2012, and her third solo album, Wild Things, was released on 3 June 2016.

She explained the four-year gap between her self-titled debut album and Anxiety by saying, "I had no idea how exhausted I'd be after I finished touring. I was physically incapable of doing anything. I tried to start recording about a month after I finished on tour and I turned up at the studio and just fell asleep. The album was recorded in New Zealand and at Pascal Gabriel's house in the south of France in early 2011.

The second album from Ladyhawke builds on her eclectic electronic-tinged rock by adding a more raucous soundscape full of distorted guitar. Sadly, it makes some of the songs sound same-ish and gets tiring quickly. Even so, there are some great tracks such as Girl Like Me, Sunday Drive, Black, White & Blue, and Gone Gone Gone that still shine despite the cacophony. But it’s the brilliant Cellophane that stands out on the album. Ironically, it’s the track that sounds most like her previous album to me and makes me wish that more of this album followed in that style.

Well, while it fails to better its predecessor, ‘Anxiety’ is a mature, personal and vulnerable release that is both a brave and natural evolution for an undoubtedly talented artist.
