Lily on the Beach is the thirty-eighth album by Tangerine Dream. The track "Radio City" was the first appearance of future TD member Jerome Froese, son of founding member Edgar Froese, while the track "Long Island Sunset" was the first time the saxophone was used in a TD track. All tracks written by Edgar Froese and Paul Haslinger. Edgar Froese – keyboards, lead guitars, drums. Paul Haslinger – keyboards, rhythm guitars, Chapman Stick, drums. Jerome Froese – lead guitar on "Radio City".

Despite starting on five or six strong pieces, Lily On the Beach is ultimately a disappointing album, lacking in enough musical ideas to justify its length; were it around the 40 minute mark of the group's classic albums, it would be much stronger and a worthy follow-up to Optical Race. While occasionally resorting to a choppy or mechanical approach, most of the tracks are inventive and rhythmically compelling, offering a mixture of slower, melodic pieces with several downright rock-oriented ravers.
