In 2003, the Dead released a four-CD live album from one set of the tapes, from a series of concerts that they had performed at the Academy of Music, in Manhattan, in the spring of 1972. The teacher, now retired and the keeper of hundreds of rescued pet goats, still had the reels when I talked to him, in July. Consider the preppy Deadhead, in his new Jetta, and his counterpart, the Jewish Deadhead, with his boxes of blank Maxells. In the nineties, the band moved its collection from San Rafael to a state-of-the-art strongroom in Novato, with five-layered walls, various alarms, and a system that would suck all the oxygen from the room in the event of fire. It housed more than ten thousand tapes. Their keeper was Dick Latvala, a self-described flaming Deadhead and crazy tape pervert -the avid congregant who one day finds himself in the role of high priest.

Deadhead or Dead Head is a name given to fans of the American rock band the Grateful Dead. Deadhead may also refer to: Dead mileage, or "deadheading" is the movement of commercial vehicles or crews in non-revenue mode for logistical reasons; . to complete a trip in a train or other vehicle with no passengers or cargo, as in, "they deadhead back to New York on eastbound trains". Punk rock started in 1976 on New York’s Bowery, when four cretins from Queens came up with a mutant strain of blitzkrieg bubblegum. The revolution they inspired split the history of rock & roll in half. But even if punk rock began as a kind of negation - a call to stark, brutal simplicity - its musical variety and transforming emotional power was immediate and remains staggering. Their first album explored obsessions like robotics, Ronald McDonald and cannibalistic apes, making devolution feel like the future.

Deadhead and Punk are synonymous, and they have mutual synonyms. Punk noun – A person who is just starting out in a field of activity. Deadhead and punk are semantically related. Sometimes you can use "Deadhead" instead a noun "Punk".

Social D's new album, the gritty, bluesy, sometimes downright Stones-y "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes," is the act's first for another . punk institution, Epitaph Records. You started out on indie labels, then moved to the majors for a while. What led you to Epitaph? It's every young band's dream to get signed to a major label, but once we were on it-I joke a lot saying it was one of the last forms of white slavery. Blues-based rock, like the first wave of punk music - the MC5, or the Dead Boys, or Johnny Thunders - laced with Chuck Berry. I mainly branched out to those grooves because you can get stuck in those one-two-three-four Ramones grooves, and then all of a sudden your whole album is that way. My main foundation is in '60s and '70s blues-based rock. I grew up with all that music long before I ever heard the Clash and the Sex Pistols. That's what always made us a little bit more than just a punk band.
