Technically, All the Best was the first compilation of McCartney's solo material, since Wings Greatest covered songs released under the Wings aegis. Well, there is considerable overlap between the two records - no less than ten of that album's 12 songs are here, yet only the hard-rocking "Hi Hi Hi" is truly missed - although the seven new songs do give this album a different character, for better or worse.

His lightly regarded '80s output, for instance, doesn't fare so well. Scroll through the below list and you'll see that Wings' widely celebrated Band on the Run does, however. But we've left plenty room elsewhere for McCartney's more recent post-Beatles successes, even as we've made some judicious cuts.

Paul McCartney is ranked number 134 in the overall artist rankings with a total rank score of 26,864. Members who like this artist also like: Pink Floyd, The Who and Led Zeppelin. Like all the Beatles with no exception, amazingly strong as a solo artist/ band leader. But even more so than the other three given the circumstances: John dead at 40, George pursuing other interests beside music (and now deceased too) and Ringo being more of a musician per se than a creator/ songwriter(good records too though).
