Platypus - Ice Cycles album flac

Platypus is an american band who is I think the least known band where are DT members involved. This is their second album from 2000 named Ice Cycles. To tell you the truth this was quite dissapointing when I've heared this album first time, 4 years ago. While the line up is top notch, Myung on bass from Dream Theater, Ty Tabor on vocals and guitar from King's X, Derek Sherinian keys and on drums the excellent Rod Morgenstein from Dixie Dregs fame, so solid and intristing line up.

Platypus "Ice Cycles," is a different animal than "When Pus Comes to Shove," still a prog effort, but much more subdued, & lacks the fire & focus. That is not to say it is a bad album, but just like Ty's Jelly Jam project, one album is sure fire dynamite & the next just a firecracker. I don't know if this is totally intentional or not (Ty has so much going on), but there is a big difference between these albums. Still you could do much worse than picking up "Ice Cycles" in a over saturated world of average to lousy rock bands & genres

Platypus: Ice Cycles by Glenn Astarita, published on May 1, 2000. With their follow up to last year’s hearty When Pus Comes To Shove, the band seems to have advanced their impetus on this new release, titled Ice Cycles.
